Photo Time Tuesday for this week is Discarded.

Someone painted the sky is a new submission to Enchanted Ceiling project... and... Riding along is a new submission to Windscreen Gallery.

In 4 hours (at 6 am), the American company Krispy Kreme doughnuts will open it's first coffee shop here in Calgary... and if they'll be fair competition to Tim Hortons - is remain to be seen. So we drove to the store to see if they're ready for the grand opening in the morning...

Those two guys, brothers from Edmonton, big fans of KKD, came to Calgary to take part in March 30th grand opening, and they're going to sleep at the doorstep of the store. They said they wanna be the first to get their fresh doughnuts in the morning.

And there were some others guys waiting there as well, playing cards and having fun. They were happy to have their picture taken, and also agreed to be put on the net.

Yeap, one can actually see the doughnuts when they're being made... and the smell... Hoo-ha!!! It was good! *s*.

Us? Hell no! We're not doughnuts lovers! Too greasy and full of calories for our taste. We went to Tim Hortons afterwards to have coffee and muffin. We know where our loyalty lays.

Hmmmm! I love coffee and donuts... But, really, it's excessively caloric...

Yesterday we had a gorgeous sunny Sunday, so we drove to the country side to "hunt for" interesting stuff. 18 km south of Calgary is where you find the town of Okotoks ("big rock" in the Siksika language). 10 kilometers west of it you can find Big Rock, the largest glacial erratic in the world.

Doesn't it look as though it fell from the sky and cracked??? This enormous quartzite rock (which is 41 m x 18 m x 9 m and weighs 16,500 tons) sits all by itself in a field. The Rocky Mountains can be seen in a distance, and scientists know there are quartzite rocks in the mountains near Jasper. But Jasper is 400 k northwest of Okotoks. How could such a huge piece of quartzite rock travel from Jasper to Okotoks?

Well, scientists think it had a ride. If you'd like to read more about this special rock, and how it got to where it is today, go here.
