The other day, when we were on our way back home from Princess Island, we drove along one of Calgary's CP train yards, and I was taking photos while Joe was driving (photo 1). Joe stopped close to the tracks because we spotted an engine heading towards us.

A guy was walking on the outside of the engine (photos), and then the engine stopped very close to where we parked the van. The guy came down off the engine, and walked towards us. I was afraid he didn't like the fact I was taking pictures, so you can imagine my surprise when he asked us if we'd like to come inside the engine!

"Really???" I opened my eyes wide... "Sure, we'd love to!"

So we climbed inside, and met the engineer (photo 3), and had few words with those 2 guys. While Joe asked questions, I took pictures as quickly as I could (photo 4) because they said they only had a minute or two, and then they needed to move on. So we hopped off the engine, and I took some more photos (5, 6) of this magnificent metal beast.

What an experience!!! I was excited as a child who just got a new toy *s*. It sure was interesting to see some of the huge engine from the inside for a minute or two. The places our camera takes us... Grand!!! *s*.

Wow!What a break you got,I no you enjoyed every moment. Great pics. As always.
Thank you for your invite so much. That meant a lot to me! However I still have problems and have to resolve before I can put my photo program back in. My system is running unstable. I keep getting all kinds of error codes and it shuts down. Thank you again, I will keep you advised. Have a wonderful day.

Yesterday, we spent the afternoon in Princess Island (close to downtown Calgary), walking around in the cosy bright sun, taking few shots and just enjoying spring.

Today Israel remembers her fallen men and women, those who gave their lives so the rest of us will have freedom and independence as one people, one nation in our own state.

Tonight, Israel celebrates its 56th Independence day. Celebrations starts at 8 PM Israel time, as soon as remembrance day ends. Sorrow, loss and pain will transform to joy and celebration... might sound strange to others, but very much a reality for Israelis.

Happy birthday Israel. May you continue prosper and grow... May peace come to your borders... May the children of Israel know no wars anymore.

The photo of today: The melting snow uncovered life ready to bloom in our small garden. Rocks and wood are from the Bow river. The last of the four is a macro shot of a very small stone, 3 mm or so, we've found on our carpet (probably brought inside in our shoes).

Nice photo! Do you know who it is of? I hear that if the two forelegs of the horse are off the ground it means that the soldier died in battle. I've always found equestrian statues interesting.

Matt, I don't know if this portrays someone specific or it's to honor all cowboys of the old days. Have to check it next time we visit there.
