We're going for a 2 - 3 days camping trip tomorrow, but before we go, we want to leave you with some photos we took at the Calgary Stampede park yesterday... of the native Canadian Indian people.

Calgary exhibition & stampede happens every year at the beginning of July, for 10 days. It is the greatest outdoor show on earth! Yeap, if you plan to visit Calgary in summertime... don't miss the Stampede!

We have lots of photos taken at the parade that begins the Stampede, and also from the Stampede park... We'll post more when we're back from out next trip to Banff and Lake Louise. Summer vacation is still on! *s*.

The well known and most photogenic Burmis Tree of Southern Alberta. This is a dead 300 years old rare Limber Pine which is one of the most famous and most photographed trees in Alberta. It is the only point of interest left of the once prosperous coal mining and lumber town of Burmis. It sits at the entrance of the Crowsnest Pass from the east, on the north side of Highway 3, in the Lundbreck - Burmis area, 11 km east of the Frank Slide Interpretive Centre.

Some of his branches are connected with metal... his roots too... and it still stands...

It probably will stand like that - for eternity!

Wow, you have completely captured the character of that old tree. You're pics are so fascinating and wonderful. I hope I can learn to capture things like you do. Well done Lorien!

Theme Thursday challenge for this week is Wings. Kind of on the abstract side, won't you say?

And some more photos from our day trip to Canmore. The way back home was another amazing part of the day, since we ended up being in the middle of a spectacular storm. First, we saw the three sisters just outside Canmore...

And then, a rainbow started to form...

The biggest and brightest rainbow we've ever seen in our lives... all across the sky... touching down earth and coloring whatever was on it's path... amazing gift from mother nature!
