World Photo Day 2005 There's a new project in town... World Photo Day 2005. Here're few words from the project's site:

"The goal of this project is simple: to show the world we live in through the eyes of photographers worldwide, on one day in the year 2005. One does not have to be a professional, but simply a creature who finds the commonplace intriguing. I would like to show the way we live, work, and play during the course of our normal activities. It can be a cattle rancher on the plains of the Midwest in the USA, an individual plowing fields with a water buffalo in Vietnam, a baker who has baked the same great cookies for longer than you can remember. Everyday life is the key here. The date for this project is June 1, 2005".

Go there if you feel like taking a part in it, and pre-register. We did! *s*.

I have to ask is a money mart like a currency exchange? I love all the color you get in your pixs. All the buildings around here are bla!

I've mentioned before I love taking photos while we drive around down. It's this second - of catching a sight in the corner of my eye while being in motion, and having to be quick and click the camera in order to manage catching that special angle of the city... angle which I'll never see again - that I love the most. And, coming home and checking the treasured I've captured on the screen, and finding out I have few photos I love - is the next precious thing in line.

So in the next few days we'll post few photos from our outing on January 29th. They were all taken while in motion. The saturation was pushed up a bit, to show the true colors of our beloved beautiful Calgary.

True, we don't need a special day to express our love to each other. We celebrate the astonishing fact we found each other and love (even though we believed it won't visit us ever again) every day. But still, it is Valentine's day today, and we exchanged cards... and also went out and bought ourselves the most luscious ice-cream cake ever!

It's all about love, baby! Happy Valentine's day *s*.

Hey girl, how beautiful! I can smell it! Sounds like you two had a good V-day. I have a picture somewhere of me smelling a rose with the caption never let it be said that I didn't stop to smell the roses!

I am slaving away on my room project. I would have never made a good painter.

Photo Friday challenge for this week was Luscious. This photo was taken last summer, just outside the small hamlet of Seebe, looking down to the Bow river, at the foot of the Rockies about 45 minutes west of Calgary.

An interesting story regarding this place: Seebe was owned by TransAlta Utilities, which is one of Canada's largest non-regulated power generation and wholesale marketing companies. The company created this hamlet to house its workers almost 100 years ago. Back in 1909, the hydro plant in Seebe was too far from anywhere and providing housing was the way TransAlta hoped to attract people to come to work for the company. So the company built Seebe and owned 680 acres of land in the area.

Last year, the company offered the whole place for sale. The offer included 500 acres, 22 houses, a 17-suite apartment building, a water treatment plant and sewage lagoon, a one-sheet curling rink, a one-room school house and a baseball diamond. At the time we took this photo, the hamlet had been already bought by one of the nations living close by, with the intention to move some of their people to the hamlet. The road to the hamlet was close.

There are people out there in the photoblogs community who call photos like this one banal, cliche, kitschy, trashy, worthless, boring...................................................................................

Mmmm... Fine with us. Their opinion, their problem... their loss. For us, captures like this, of a special magical moment in time - are priceless! It's sharing the little things in life and nature that make our lives together precious, that keep us going above and beyond everyday hardships, that give everything else meaning and worth.

We're not pretentious. We - unlike others - don't call ourselves photographers. No. We're photo takers, that's it. We don't pretend to be artists. We do it for fun, we do it for ourselves, and to share our lives with our families, and if by any chance others on the net enjoy our photos as well - that's great. Sure makes us happy, but doesn't make us artists! *s*.

This photo was submitted to Enchanted ceiling gallery. Gorgeous collection for all of you sky lovers. Go check it!

The city... Through every season, she accepts the light differently. She constantly changes in front of our eyes, always revealing one of her endless faces. It's fascinating to drive around and take photos while in motion, because we're always surprised when we get home and check the "plunder"... Good surprises always awaits us among the pixels. The city is very generous to us!

lensday.com challenge for today is Red. On January 26th we celebrated for double reasons: The first one, it was the birthday of a friend of ours, and we took him out for breakfast, since Joe worked that day (afternoon shift). The second reason was: it was the 4th anniversary of us being in our home. So, we had 2 good reasons to celebrate... and out for breakfast we went *s*.

Joe's coworker recommended this diner for breakfast, so we decided to give it a try... and we were glad we did! The place was packed with people, food was yummy indeed, but more than that: The place looked like an old diner from the middle of the 20th century, and it had a special atmosphere... It was as if we leaped back in time.
