• On the way back home from Drumheller, the sun was getting ready to set to our right, and to our left, the fields of Alberta had become gold. Just to absorb the sights in... and feel lucky to be there and capture it!

Fields of Alberta
• Look at that! Our first online interview. Dale from SpunWithTears interviewed us both for the weekly interview on Thursday Challenge. Would you like to know few more things about us? Go read the interview.
That was a fun thing to do... thanks, Dale. It sure was nice to meet you and your family in person *s*.

What a beautiful blue sky, the contrast with the golden fields is great..... I would have tried to leave the road out of the picture, but that is personal.

Last Sunday we had yet another day trip, and this time we visited the ghost town of Rowley. Lots to show and tell, but it'll take some time to put it all together, and believe us: This place is enchanted!!! *s*.
On our way back home, we also visited - again - the area of the Badlands of Alberta. Drumheller is located 130 km Northeast of Calgary in the badlands of Alberta. The area had been found to be rich with dinosaur bones and prehistoric fossils, thus the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Paleontology is just outside Drumheller. It is indeed an old part of the earth that still has scents of mystery and charm... A reminder of ancient times and lives long gone.

Above the Red Deer
The Star Mine Suspension Bridge in Rosedale (117 meters long) was built in 1930 over the Red Deer river. Coal miners used it to transport themselves and the coal from the tipple on the south side of the river to the mine on the north side of the river. The bridge was used by the mines until 1957, when the mine closed. The Alberta Government rebuilt the bridge in 1958, and continues to maintain it today for public use.
Visiting this Bridge is an adventure, because while you walk across it, it does sway... scary *s*.

Suspension bridge
The Horsethief canyon offers a spectacular view of the badlands valley and its multi-layered walls. Paths lead to petrified oyster beds. The story tells that the area with its many folds and bends proved an ideal place for thieves to hide horses in the early 1900s.

This is a view we don't know here in Holland, Great how you show me how Canada looks. I love to go there once. I have been there a very short time, when I was visiting friends in Upstate New York, we went to see Niagara falls and crossed the border for one day. I want to go back and explore Canada more. It is a great country with beautiful nature, according to your pictures.....

Ah Drumheller ... Yup Ren - we are planning a weekend camping trip this summer for photographic adventures : ) Duke is originally from Drumheller! You really have to do the badlands, they completely rock : )
These are wonderful captures! I especially love the bridge, ahhhh misty morning colored memories of freaking my mom out on that bridge, heh heh.

So Duke is originally from Drumheller??? We always wonder how warn are the summers there... probably too warm to stick around for long :-)).
The badlands sure have a totally different look from the mountains. They have their own unique charm and worth the visit!

• A "street" inside the Penny Lane mall in Downtown Calgary. It feels like a street in old Europe with all the little stores and restaurants/coffee shops. We're not sure if the place is more alive at other times of the day or other days of the week (we seem to visit there only at the weekends), but at the time this photo was taken, the stores were empty, and no people were walking around... like a deserted street from years long gone. Special place this is... worth a visit!

The fact that you took the photo in B&W gives it more of the old look you are talking about. I love the picture, and the pattern of the pillars...... great shot.

The flea market is a place we love to visit from time to time. We LOVE the old stuff, that's why *s*. Yesterday we went to have a look, and we even purchased an item we were looking for for a long time... for only 4 dollars. Obviously, that made us very happy!!! *s*.
The dolls? There were dozens of them there, so we took a photo.
