Yesterday (Thursday) we had a day trip to southern Alberta. It's late, and I'm dead tired, but want to post something new since we skipped a day. So, without too many introductions... here's three photos of the Prince of Wales hotel in Waterton Park. It's early in the season over there, most places are still not open for the public, but we had a gorgeous day to drive around one of the most beautiful parks in Alberta. More in the next few days...

Before I go to bed... We wanted to thank all of you who commented on the Rowley series. We are so happy you enjoyed it... We were very glad to share this place with you! Thanks, people *s*.

Wow, what a beautiful picture. The view you must have from this hotel must be great. The mountains, the sky, the hotel, very well captured.

Here's a series of photos we took at the ghost town of Rowley a week ago. Enchanted place it is, a place we hope will be granted financing to preserve the past. It's a place worth a visit, but if you're far away, take few minutes to see the photos and read the story. We hope you'll enjoy the series, and please... let us know what you think, ok? *s*.

Even more sick today, and spent most of the day on the sofa, sleeping and watching TV alternately. Yuck, hate to be sick, and understandably not surfing around much. Hopefully will resume visiting you guys tomorrow.

For now, here's another one from Calgary's downtown right after sunset, taken the other night. You can still see some of the sunset colors, which were behind us at this point, reflecting in the buildings. I just LOVE taking photos of the Calgary tower ;-)).

What kind of tower is it? It looks like a flight-control tower...... am I right or absolutely not.

Sorry Chantal, je hebt het helemaal verkeerd... :-)). The Calgary Tower is a tourist attraction. Once the tallest building but not anymore. It's still a great place to visit and see the city from above and the mountains to the west..

Earlier tonight we went for a walk around downtown, and learned that the metal trees in Stephen Avenue mall get nice illumination at night time. Not only that, the colors change every few seconds. You learn something new every day *s*. Nice surprise, beautiful sight. I've added a B & W conversion as well... I like it too.

Nice photo. - A bit strange to see a car there, though. All of the Malls I've seen in the UK are no go areas for vehicles
{or am I missing something?}

PS. I like the B&W version too

Joe, thanks for the comment. This area is a no go area on weekdays till 6 PM.... Only emergency vehicles can drive through then. On the weekends every one can drive through at night time.

Both great, but I prefer the mono version. And yeah, wish the car isn't there.

Was a bit under the weather today, but still managed to work on a new series portraying the ghost town of Rowley. It's not ready yet, so for now here's one from the archives... After all, horses are a big part of Calgary's history.

Nice DOF on this shot! the horse looks forlorn. Was this at an event? they look to be dressed up.

I wonder if those who decorated this old hut alongside the road from Beiseker to Linden got permission to do so. In Calgary, they have a yearly budget to paint over graffiti, and they do it right away, as soon as a new work pops up. That's why there aren't too many graffiti art work around the city.

At least it looks like the building is out of the city.

Nice photograph. We see a lot of urban graffiti, but not much in the rural areas. I guess the class of 2005 will be here soon.

Yoiks ... graffiti in the country, I wonder how the cows feel about that?

nicely seen and great capture!

It's getting there, finally!!! Not that it won't get very cold again, no. That will happen for sure, but we have more and more warm sunny days, with gorgeous blue skies and white fluffy clouds... and that feels wonderful! Now, let the trees and flowers bloom... and everything will be springy perfect *s*.

Is it spring yet?

The leaves on the trees are not growing yet, but it is spring..... just wait and before you know it, the leaves will start to grow and spring is on its way then.

I love the blue sky with the few clouds. The green tree makes you focus on it.
