Distant

Upper Kananaskis Lake, Kananaskis country, Alberta, Canada June 27, 2004 Taken by Lorien

From Cambridge Advanced Learner's Dictionary: Distant - adjective - far away: a distant country.

I fell in love with the Canadian Rockies when I first came to Canada in May 1998. Since then, my love and
admiration for the mighty giants only grows stronger. Every summer, as soon as the snow is gone and the
weather gets nicer, we drive towards the mountains .

When we approach them, an old familiar excitement feels our hearts with joy. We don't know why, but we
always feel happy to see the mighty giants again. We are a year older, and they always remain the same. One
year in human's life is only but a second in mountains life. It's as if they lay there with a little smile... greeting
us every summer, and yet... distant and out of reach.

We should hike more... This way we'll come closer to the mighty Canadian Rockies.
