About this series:

This series of photos was taken at Shouldice Park (by the Bow river), Calgary, Alberta, Canada, on July 24th, 2004. We found the doll on the bank of the river, and Joe through it into the water... but I wanted it back, so he went into the river to retrieve it. Without too much planning, I felt an urge to take photos of it in different positions.

The light/shadow conditions were gorgeous that day. It saddened me to no end to see the bad shape the doll was in. My imagination took me far and wild... Somehow - this doll and me became one... Memories of days long gone - filled with feelings of despair, lack of control over my life, loneliness... and longing for love - emerged. I needed to shoot this reminder of how I hated being me in the past.

But not anymore...

That's how this series was born, and I'm proud to say All Things Girl net magazine published part of this series in the Art and Photography section of their Falling l October - November 2004 issue. My heartfelt thanks to Jennifer Boxer from boxercox.com for accepting this series for publication, and to the rest of the stuff at All Things Girl for doing such a fabulous job.
