About this series:

All photos were taken by Lorien in Canmore, Alberta, Canada, on April 11, 2004. The town of Canmore is nestled on the eastern edge of the Rockies, 100 km west of Calgary. It has an interesting history. It started as a divisional point for the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1883, and in 1899 it was well established as a mining town. The last coal mine was closed in 1979, and Canmore became more focused on Tourism. This was boosted in 1988, the year of the Calgary Winter Olympics. Canmore was selected as the area for the Nordic ski events.

The photos posted here are close-ups of an old coal car from the mines. It stands in the yard of Canmore's museum, all rusted and... beautiful! Click the left thumbnail to start the viewing.
