This week's Thursday Challenge theme is Colorful (Vivid, Multicolored, Gaudy, Flamboyant). It seems this mural
photo, taken around a month ago in Medicine Hat, fits the challenge quite nicely.
The surprise was to read Rudyard Kipling's words on that wall. What was the connection between this old hotel
building and the great Victorian author? We've found out that Rudyard Kipling visited Medicine Hat in 1907 and
talked about "The city with all hell for a basement". He was referring to the city's vast reserves of natural gas right
underneath the ground, that was found some 20 years prior to his visit.
All in all, we love to find corners that glorify and remember the past... and read some more about them. You learn
something new every day *s*.
