Tips for going out of a plateau

Didn't write for the last 10 days. I was trying to find the way to push myself out of the plateau-like situation I've found myself in since April 24th. That was the last time I could report a loss, and after that things seemed to go up and down and then up again for a few weeks. So, I needed to shake things a bit and surprise this old body of mine *s*.

So, I'm getting E-mails (I'm on the mailing list) from Jon Benson, the Author/Creator of Fit Over 40. He created a 10-day free e-course, 10 Pounds (Snap!) Like THAT!, that anyone can get for free, with 10 great tips. At the beginning of the course, Jon declares that "none of these tips are about starving yourself. Whatever you do, avoid starvation diets. They will only wreck your metabolism and burn muscle tissue. Also, only a few of these 10 tips are meant for long-term use. Use them wisely and vary them over time".

So, I was reading the tip for the second day, Day 2: Fasting Cardio: "Want to see your fat burning increase by 43%? Try fasting cardiocardio work done first thing in the morning prior to eating anything. This is a tip that anyone can use. It does not matter if you are a beginner or seasoned athlete. Fasting cardio simply works".

Back in January, when I started to work out 2 hours per day, I did one hour in the morning on an empty stomach, and 1 hour in the afternoon. It worked great for me, and I lost quite a bit that month - 9 lbs. So I decided to go back to 2 hours a day when possible, at least try to work out more than 1 hour per day. And since the weather is gorgeous right now, whenever possible - I'm walking outside.

So for the last 7 days, that's what I've been doing workouts wise:

Date

Treadmill
Hikes
5/12 -
2 h = 3.1 m
5/13
2 h = 6.12 m
-
5/14 2 h = 6.11 m
-
5/15 -
1 h 14 m = 4.30 m
5/16 -
1 h 25 m = 5.30 m
5/17 1 h 30 m = 4.75 m
-
5/18 1 h 30 m = 4.75 m
-
Totals 7 h = 21.71 m = 34.94 km
4 h 39 m = 12.70 m = 20.44 km
  Totals = 11 h 39 m = 34.41 m = 55.38 km

Yeap, lots of walking. When on the treadmill, I mostly walk in 6% incline and 3.1 mph speed. 1 hours of this helps me burn 500 calories, which is quite good. While outside, we mostly do power walking, something around 3.6 miles mph speed. So, I burned lots of calories this past week.

Food wise, it was mostly good, but I had my moments of extra eating, which is mostly more fruit, a bit of yogurt and 85% dark chocolate. All in all, when I got on the scale this morning, it showed me 143.6 lbs (65.14 kg), which is 2.8 lbs loss from my last official weight on May 7. I'm very happy with that, since it sure seems I'm out of the plateau.

I'll continue reading Jon Benson's tips to find out what else can help me push my fat loss some more. Will let you know *s*.
