We spent Saturday, February 21, 2004, at Spruce Meadows, a world class equestrian facility in Calgary, which was ranked #1 in the world in 2002. This place hosts major riding and jumping tournaments each year, and is a huge attraction for every horse lover.
I asked Joe to go there after reading Myla's story about the horses. It brought many memories to the surface. Yes, I rode horses in the past, for few months. I experienced the indescribable feeling of being one with a horse, and I loved it to no end... till I fell... almost got killed... got scared... and never went back.
We watched a dressage competition in the facility, and also visited the stables... and of course took lots of photos. When we came home to check our "crops", we've found out it wasn't our lucky day. We still need to learn how to take photos of bodies in motion... rapid motion.
But... I loved few of the photos, and didn't want to trash them all... so here they are, horses oil paintings series. This series is devoted to Myla as a "thank-you" for the inspiration and memories.

"We must welcome the future, remembering that soon it will be the past; and we must respect the past, knowing that once it was all that was humanly possible". George Santayana.
Some more bits of times long gone, as they're shown at Fort Calgary. Bits of the beginning of the city from more than 100 years ago. That's how they used to live back then... This is our past:

What a wonderful picture. As a former Calgarian, I miss both downtown Calgary and for me, still a magical Calgary Tower.

• Theme Thursday is here again, and this week it's Orange.
• Those next two photos were taken in Fort Calgary, The Winterfest we've been to some 2 weeks back. They are manipulated, yes, and it seems what's most important in them are the priceless expressions on the cute little faces of those 2 girls, who were watching the magician and waiting for their turn to get their faces painted.
