Today we post another series from our trip to the USA on May 2005, from Zion National Park, Utah, USA.
From all the parks we've visited on this trip, Zion National park was the less impressive park - in our eyes. Not that it's not a gorgeous place to visit, oh no, it's a beautiful park! It's just that we had only 1 day to spend there, and that was not at all enough! Maybe in the future, we'll take our time to explore this park in depth.

Gorgeous day in Zion (Zion National Park) - The series

As promised, here are few photos from our meet-up with friends for Barbecue and laughs the other day. Seating around the outdoors fireplace sure brought memories of long gone days, places and people. We used to have bonfires back in Israel... It was (and still is) one of the traditions of a Jewish holiday called Lag-Ba-Omer... and there were other occasions as well. And of course, one doesn't build a bonfire by themselves, so it was always connected to people and places.
Fire has a mesmerizing influence on many people, don't you agree? It is a fascinating force of nature - Sometimes tremendously dangerous, always warming, always colorful and horribly beautiful. I love looking at the fire, running through imagination the different shapes it forms, and find it very hard to break off the sight. That's why I took upon myself to be the fire keeper that night... and had lots of fun trying to keep my fingers out of it while adding the wood *s*.

I agree with you about the effect that fires can have ..... they seem to draw you into deep conversations and deep retrospective thoughts ..... I love them

Fire can be positive, but this also reminds me of the forest fires in Portugal this summer with lots of people losing houses and getting hurt. It has two sides.

I couldn't agree with you more, Chantal. Fire is a deadly force, and we know it all too well here in Canada, when summer fires erupt. Thousands of acres of forest burn to the ground each year. Funny part is, it's nature's way to replenish herself. Fire is part of nature's cycle. The problem begins when people are involved.

fire always looks a bit like a ballet dance to me, so beautiful and powerful and then on the other hand so deadly and destructive and such a natural part of life ... beautiful capture!

Yesterday we had a day full of events. We started the day with a bike ride towards downtown, and discovered lots was happening in the city. In and around Olympic plaza, the Latino expo was going full volume. Lots of Latino music, dancing, food and crafts... blast of colors, smells and sounds... Very sweet!
We walked around the plaza, took photos, moved to the sounds of vibrant music... and just had pure fun. Joe's photo was taken in the middle of the plaza, with downtown building (and tower) in the background.
Oh yea, our afternoon and evening continued at a friend's house with a small gathering of friends, good food, lots of laughs and sitting around a bonfire (photo tomorrow). Day well spend it was! *s*.
One more thing... Starting today, we're going to post a slightly bigger photos (750 pixels in width). Does it look better to you?

Jeez, ren, potty, Jeff, Dusty and I were even thinking about wondering into the Latino expo during our Calgary Photobloggers meet! Had we gone with that, we probably would've run into you. Maybe next time :-)).

I doubt that, Derrick... We were there before noon since we had other plans for the afternoon. That's why we didn't come to the meeting... but I think we'll hopefully come to the Red Deer one :-)).
