Today we post yet another photo from Inglewood bird sanctuary, portraying Colonel Walker's home. In 1883, Colonel James Walker settled this land which is now the sanctuary. In 1910 the current brick house, named Inglewood, was built.

In 1929, Colonel Walker's son Selby, applied to the Federal government to have 59 acres on the west side of the Bow River be designated as a Federal Migratory Bird Sanctuary. His request was granted and the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary was born. In 1970 the City of Calgary purchased the property and has been managing it as a natural area ever since. The Colonel Walker House is currently both a private residence and office space for Sanctuary volunteers.

Very nice! The colour conversion makes this photo look like it was shot in 1929!

Ooo, love the black and white! I always wondered if the bird sanctuary was worth a visit...

It does, though right now not much fall color is left. Every season makes this place special, and in spring time - the deer are all over the place.

lensday.com challenge for October 12, 2005 is Autumn. Yesterday we walked around the Inglewood bird sanctuary here in the city. Even before we got to the place we realized we were too late for nice autumn colors. The peak is over around the city... We were too late! But... it was a first for us... finding a leaf that looks like lips... and with the right color as well . So there it is... Autumn kiss.

This is the last series from our trip to the USA on May 2005 - Arches National Park, Utah, USA.

Today we post the first 12 photos. They were all taken on the cloudy afternoon of May 10, 2005 - our first visit to the park. Though the skies were gray and angry, we enjoyed our visit to the Park Avenue section of Arches tremendously. We went on a hike through the area, and decided there and then Arches was a very special and exceptional place. Little we knew what was awaiting us around the corner.

Click the photo to see the rest of the series, and if you like it - please let us know .

Not much to say about this one... no need to. It's just a little hidden beautiful corner we've found in Confederation park, that wanted its picture to be taken ;-)).

A nice stroll in Confederation Park here in the city almost 2 weeks ago. Those trees were quite unique in shape, so we grabbed few photos, and colored this one in post processing.

Our little grandson Jayden is almost 9 months old. Every time we meet with him we experience sheer joy, and must take some photos. It's amazing how much he changes and grows from day to day. Happy happy *s*.
