Dr. Wesley P. Larsen wrote in his book, Paiute Scrapbook, that the Indian "Paiute participation was a key element in the
white man's exploration and settlement of southern Utah&... Without their aid, discovery of the best agricultural land,
water sources and townsites would have been much slower and probably would have had a heavier toll in lives lost."
