About this series:

This series is from our trip to the USA on May 2005. All photos were taken on May 14, 2005, at Grafton ghost town, south of Zion National Park, Utah, USA.

We drove to Grafton after we finished our tour of Zion NP. To reach Grafton we drove to the town of Rockville along UT9 and turned south on a side road that crosses the Virgin River on a historic, single-track iron bridge. Most of the road from there is unpaved and follows along the foot of the low cliffs that separate the Virgin river valley from the rocky land beyond.

The first part of the old Grafton the road leads to is the old cemetery. The town area is a bit further down the road.

I love the roughness of the wall and the choice for sepia is awesome.

I would enjoy doing this one in watercolors or pen & ink ....
when I see a ghost town I get reflective and see in my mind's eye tales these old buildings may hold ..... families,
children and just living life .... thanks again for sharing your holidays :-)).

Yes, Laura... I think the same too... It's very fascinating to think about people you didn't know, how were their lives,
what they had to go through, why they gave up and moved... Interesting!
