Moody Monday's challenge for today was Anxious. Now, that's a tough one for us, since we don't take too many photos of people. So, I went through the archives, hoping to find something suitable... and I came up with this photo from last summer, from our visit to Heritage Park here in the city.
Heritage Park is a living historical village exhibiting life in southern Alberta before 1914. It's the largest living historical village in Canada, with more than 100 buildings, most of them original antique buildings moved to the park from locations around Alberta.
The above photo was taken through a window of a building portraying the dentist office back then in those early days of the 20th century. I don't want to think of the gruesome ways they use to deal with people's mouth problems back then... too scary!!!

Two weeks ago we visited Ghost Lake again to check the ice fishing that's going on there every winter. This lake is located 35 km west of Calgary in the Stoney Indian land. It was created by putting a dam on the Bow River in 1929. The lake is 28 square km in size and is loaded with fish. In winter it freezes solid, and one can find many fishermen on the lake, trying to catch something.
You won't find me sitting in a car, driving on the ice, though Joe would love to do just that. He can go by himself if he wants ;-), but this time he didn't... he just took photos. It was twilight time, and the cold colors of the frozen lake, mixed with the sunset warm colors - just gave us a spectacular show!

The photos that the two of you take make we want to catch the next plane and head West.

Here's another photo from the area of Kananaskis country. The sun was smiling right into the lens, so Joe thought he should help the poor camera cope ;-)). Here's the whole Kananaskis country series.

It's been a while since we had the opportunity to take sunset shots. Joe surprised me yesterday with those gorgeous photos he took of the sunset while in break at work. I've missed this sunset yesterday, but enjoyed it anyway by seeing the photos.

No, we're not going on vacation... Thursday Challenge for February 3, 2005, is Vacation... and at this time of the year, that's what people do in Canada... go to the snowy slops of the Rockies, and ski. We've never tried it ourselves, and I don't think we ever will, but it sure looks like those who do it have lots of fun *s*.

A week ago we visited the area of Kananaskis country again. Kananaskis country is a 4250 square kilometers area, located 90 kilometers west of Calgary. It's a recreational area which supplies opportunities for outdoor activities all year round. The scenery of the Rockies and valleys is just breathtaking, and everyone can find some activity to their liking.
We just drove around and took photos of the area under its winter "cloths". Also check the whole Kananaskis country series.

I have only been to Alberta once, and Calgary in particular but the drive through the mountains was spectacular. Unfortunately my photos were nothing like this! :-))
