It took us a while to post photos from Joe's daughter's wedding (August 6, 2005), since we wanted the young couple's permission to do so, but they went away on their honeymoon 2 days after the wedding. Now that they're back, and said "yes", we can post few of the many photos Joe took that day.
It was a wonderful heart warming day, and we were more than happy to take part in it. Everybody looked so elegant, all dressed up and beautiful. We got all emotional to see these two lovely people becoming one. Ok, I'm getting all mushy again, so I'll stop right here *s*...
This first photo is a "Studio" photo made by Joe by combining 2 photos. Isn't this the perfect background for a perfect bride?

I've been having a hell of a good time playing with photos lately... The stuff that comes out while trying and deleting, trying again and adding, filtering and blending... Wow!!! There are infinite possibilities out there, all I need to do is try them! *s*. So,here are two photos I've been playing with... What in these photos comes across for you? We'd love to know *s*.

Wow, you are doing some amazing processing these days :-)). This is so dramatic and oppressive like the skies are going to open up and thump down and I thought the nasty view from my window was dramatic, LOL. Really wonderful stuff!!

Lake Minnewanka - one of a few lakes in the Minnewanka loop in Banff National Park - is located just a short 15 minute drive from Banff town site. For some reason, it's been a challenge for us to take a good photo of this lake. We weren't lucky to catch this huge manmade lake in good lighting conditions. We've been there either on a wintery day, or on a rainy overcast summery day, which was how it was when the photo above was taken. We'll try again in the future, for sure. It's a gorgeous place to have a picnic, walk along the lake shore and just enjoy the fresh crispy air of the Rockies.

A week ago we went out to Fish Creek park for a bike ride. On our way back home, on McCleod trail, we noticed lots of people gathering in a parking lot across from Chinook center. There was a car show there, old cars show, so we stopped and snapped few shots. There were few very interesting cars there, accompanied with very proud owners.

Come, look inside

I love old cars like these..... that was a car for the rich and famous in its days. Good choice for sepia.

Nice job on the color! How did you go abouts doing the conversion?
Derrick | 08.12.05 - 1:58 PM |

Ha... Let's see. After doing the regular shadow/highlights/saturation/sharpening on the original, I converted it to B&W, colored it dark brown/sepia - somewhere in between, and then blended it with the original in the color mode... and that's it :-)).

Another series from our trip to the states on May, 2005 - Grand Teton & Yellowstone - is ready for posting. These two parks are wonderful to visit. We've been there 6 years ago, and we were anxious to visit again. But, the weather wasn't on our side this time. It was cold, gray and rainy the whole 2 days we drove around the parks. Our plan was to spend at least 3 days there, maybe 4, but in the morning of the third day we decided there was no use to keep driving around in the rain, so we ended our trip earlier and headed home.
The truth is, Yellowstone looks great with its winter coat. The cold air makes the mist coming from the geysers thicker, and most of the time we felt we were on a horror movie set. It was special in a bizarre way, so all in all we can safely say we enjoyed the wintery face of Yellowstone, though we were a bit disappointed we didn't have enough light to shoot better photos. In any case, we managed to take few photos we like, and here they are.
