The plan

The diet plan

The diet plan I'm following at this time is the one by Dr. Peter D'Adamo called The Blood Type Diet. Dr. D'Adamo claims (on 30 years research base) that each one of the four blood type groups members should eat what's best for their body, and that the blood type makes a difference in how the body digests different foods and fights illnesses.

I have blood type "A", which means I should follow the recommendation to become full vegetarian. At this point I don't eat any red meat anymore. It's not a problem for me because during the years I've found out I don't like red meat so much, and I can do without it.

What I do eat still, from time to time, is chicken, turkey and fish. I'm not sure I'll give those up totally in the future, so that's still to be seen. These days I get my protein intake mostly from soy products.

Other than that, I eat lots of veggies and fruit (which I love very much), minimum dairy products, and no "white bad carbs" products anymore.

The workout

In winter, I try to workout at least 5 times a week in the gym. I do cardio on bikes, treadmill and elliptical for at least 60 minutes, sometimes more. The rest of the time I work on the weights machines.

In summer I try to workout outside as much as the weather permits. I do bike rides, walks and canoeing.

Healthy lifestyle

I've been battling with overweight since I was 9 years old, and had been dieting every few years (Yeap, I'm the famous accordion *s*). This time I've started my journey towards an healthy physical lifestyle on February 25th, 2002. My main goal was to keep my high blood pressure (180/110 at the time) down to normal levels without any pills. I'm happy to report that since the beginning of March 2003 I've been off any kind of pills, and my blood pressure levels stay on an average of 120/75 most of the time.

I'm hoping to maintain my workout schedule regularly, finish losing all the excess weight around the end of July 2004 and then face another very important goal: stop smoking!
